A LIFETIME OF WELLNESS EXPERIENCE
Jackie Ovadia, director of Pacific Wellness Source, is an integrative health educator with years of teaching experience in preventive health and wellness, exercise, nutrition, and healthy cooking. She has been an Associate Faculty member with SOCCD — Irvine Valley College and Saddleback College — since 2005. She currently teaches Health and Wellness, Strength and Conditioning, Pilates, Balance and Mobility, Flexibility and Chair Exercise. She has also taught Health Risk Reduction, Food & Mood, Weight Loss Made Simple, Nutrition, Dietary Guidelines, and Aquatics
Jackie’s academic and teaching background includes:
- Extensive education in Exercise Science (MS, Cal State, Long Beach) and Human Nutrition (MS, University of New Haven)
- Practical experience in preventive health and rehabilitation, strength and conditioning coaching, and group exercise classes, incorporating mindful meditation
- On staff at Mission Hospital as an exercise physiologist and weight management specialist and at Long Beach Memorial Hospital in cardiac rehab
- Working in the medical practices of Marwan Edris, MD, creating the MediLean weight loss program, and Leigh Erin Connealy, MD, integrating nutrition coaching into patient health and wellness programs
Jackie has also taught a course in Food Preparation for Type II Diabetes at the Laguna Beach Culinary Arts Institute. Her first “Healthy Cooking” cookbook (2019), was designed specifically for residents at the CareAgape assisted living homes in Orange County, based on the latest medical and dietary guidelines.
